Hello CRWB!
We already have the newsletter ready to send but need a little
pricing information to finalize. But, we have some amazing news we just need to
share....
East Park Reservoir is FULL all the way to the picnic tables!!
Unless some unforeseen obstacle occurs we are camping at the lake! Yahoo!
There is a County board meeting on the 24th to finalize camping
costs but Mike Azevedo from the county provided the preliminary fee's.
They have agreed to keep the lake open and run it year round but they
have the cost of maintaining roads, bathrooms, trash removal and paying rangers
that need to be covered. I wish it were still free but we had a good long run
of open camping. We are excited the lake will be maintained with future
improvements to come like running water. No more waiting at the gates for
sections to open. They are shooting to open for the season by end of March or
early April. For more information on camping costs, please follow this CLICK HERE
Mike has asked that we be patient with them because its new for
them too. It may take a few seasons to get the bugs out but I am thrilled
we are able to continue on with the lake. Oh, Christa and Frank, if its raining
ever, I need you to keep the campfire burning cause we will be back...
All reservations are web driven or can be done at the kiosk at
Squaw Creek (yes he is open) and in Stonyford. They ask that we stay on the
honor system but spot checking is necessary for other groups who may sneak
thru.
Preliminary Fees (residents are 50% of all fees but must be
present at the site)
Day Use Only $8 per day
Annual Day Use Only Pass (unlimited days) $100
Unassigned Camp Site (no tables or fire ring)
$ 15 per night
There are 3 group camp sites:
ChisamHole in the Wall
Coyote Cove
They each rent for $75 per night and are limited to number of
people. None are in the area we currently camp in.
The last years we have been camping at Coyote Point and spreading
out. Many of us camping with our own tables etc. Mike and I are going to
reserve our spot at the point but take one of the tables to ensure other groups
will not. If a few of you would do the same it would help. Also the tables
going up the hill are good too. Then you can camp filling in the gaps.
If you feel you may have a hardship because of the fee, please
take a moment and contact us so we can work something out. We want each and
everyone of you there. We are family.
Lastly, some of you went to the County of Colusa site and signed
up for news updates regarding the lake. We encourage you all to do this. When
you get to the county site, type in Parks and Recreation. You will see East Park
Reservoir Camping. As you read it it asks you to click "here" to be
updated. They ask for basic email information and you will be alerted to when
the site will be open for reservations and any new updates.
As of today, the site will be open Apil 1st. At that's no joke...
Newsletter to follow shortly!
C'ant wait to see you all!
Sue
