2017 News and Updates
Howdy CRWB!
This past year has been so busy! We have had many highs and
sad lows to deal with. It's touches the heart to see so many of you offering
your support and or congratulations to each other. Regardless of backgrounds,
where you’re from or even our differing views on the news, Stonyford is still a
place to call our own. We are excited to once again see you and spend an
amazing weekend together.
Here is the information you need for 2017!
Date: May 6th and 7th
Theme: Corkill
Ranch Wild Bunch “Superhero's “ !Shirt Color: Safety Green
What kind of Superhero are you?! Soaring, high jumping, mind
bending, karate chopping, mega strong or maybe a super brain?! We are really
looking forward to see what Superhero you are!
We want to thank Zach Parham for convincing us to be Superhero's.
When Zach first mentioned this idea, it
was not a top contender. We came around to Zach’s way of thinking and so happy
we did. Most of you know that Zach, who has been coming to our CRWB Stonyford
weekend since he was a tiny infant and I believe is now 17, was diagnosed with Leukemia
this past year. He has been spending a lot of time in the hospital fighting the
good fight. Our love and prayers have gone out to Zach as well as his family. I
know they have reached out for help and that is never an easy thing to do. They
have been calling themselves “Team Zachary”. There is no doubt support of any kind was and
is still appreciated through their fundraising page:
Zach has been such an enthusiastic participant each year
with the CRWB. Always volunteering, offering to move cars, suggesting and coming
up with some of the best costumes. We thought we needed a great way to show
Zach we are in his corner. So, when you get this year’s shirts, take a good
close look at the picture on your shirt. Especially what the characters in the
picture are wearing. You should see “TZ” on the front of them for “Team
Zackary”. We think Zack is our
Superhero! Thank you, Steve Watson!
We are saddened by the loss of Tracy Corkill. We will miss seeing
him at the parade and coming out to play horseshoes with us. Deepest
condolences to the Corkill family.
Let’s say a big “Hello” to our newest CRWB Future Mutton Busters!
Rory Aspen James, new daughter of Jimmy and Christine Hansen and Brooklyn Jade
Jefferson, new daughter of JJ and Desiree. Congratulations and Welcome!
Reminders
Reservations: We
want to thank those that volunteered to make designated reservations for the
group. The cost is slightly higher and the funds are non-refundable so we
really appreciate your willingness to help secure our area. There are still
designated areas near the restroom below and across the road. For the rest of
you please don't forget to make your general reservations. The cost is $15 per vehicle
per night (general) $20 (designated). You can pay on line or Squaw Creek. I am
understanding they will be visiting the campground as well.
Smokers: On our last day in the camp ground we walk the entire area picking up any missed trash. This past year we had an unusually large amount of cigarette butts put out on the ground and not picked up. We would like to suggest you bring a coffee can for outside. This helps keep the area clear for you and is helpful for those of us cleaning up.
Shirt & Rodeo Tickets: We have final pricing on rodeo tickets and shirts. We know with the shirts the cost will go up a very small amount so will go with last years cost. Our web site is open for both shirt and ticket orders. If you prefer you may still order via email/phone/FB, then mail a check. The information will be on the order slip at the end of this newsletter. Please remember if you do not get a response from me I did not get your order. There are no tank tops available. Orders are due by April 1st.

Squaw Creek: Store, bar and restaurant are all open.
Fishing Derby: Begins Friday and ends Sunday at sundown.
Mutton Busters will need to be signed up in March for Saturday rodeo. It is on a first come basis. Forms are on-line at Stonycreekhorsemen.org under Amateur Events. Ages 4-6
2016
Recap
The lake was full and the weather was wonderful! What we thought
was going to be a smaller gathering turned out to be just the opposite. We had
a great parade and no surprise we won First Place once again. Although after
the parade while taking in refreshments at the Timberline, we walked off and
left the Trophy on the bar. No worries, Evan, son of Vickie and grandson of Jim
and Linda, found and returned it back to us. Now residing comfortably in
Poeville.

Thank you all for making this such a fun event. It would not
happen without all of you!
Sue
FYI: Just received a flood update from Helga. The flooding in
Maxwell is subsiding. It was caused by the creek (turned river) that we cross at
the one lane bridge. The levee gave way flooding the town and took part of the
roadway out.
The water at Poeville reached up the embankment to where we played
horseshoes. Their well, outbuildings and trailer have not been affected.
The houses along the right side of the road between the campground
turnoff and Poeville did experience flooding in their homes but it has gone
down.
Helga, Roy and folks are all dry.
