2025 - Update

The Light Festival had an event last October utilizing all of the Lodoga side of the lake. It was scheduled to return the weekend prior to Rodeo weekend. The Light Festival has also placed a hold as back up for the event, our weekend. For those of you that secure designated spots for our group had a big surprise when making reservations. All sites on the Lodoga Side are currently blocked from rental. The Light Festival is working on getting an issue cleared up. We are not privy to what it is. So until it is settled, we will not know if we can camp on Lodoga side Rodeo weekend.

The Light Festival has April 27 on their website page but has suspended their ticket sales. The county will have an answer by March and promise to notify us first. We discussed our options and agreed on how we will handle camping.

If the Festival is the same weekend as rodeo, we will camp at Poeville which Christa and Frank have offered. We will plan to have portable Potties paid for with existing funds through our 50/50. We do have room, we will just be cozy. The only request is no open fire pits. There is
a huge fire pit that all are welcome to. Propane portable fire pits are ok.

The Stonyford side is open. The problem is there are no large spaces on that side and everyone from both Stonyford and Lodoga sides wil be trying to fit in.
So we voted to ride it out till March. Either way we have a place of our own. As soon as we hear anything we will quickly inform you all.
So that’s the news for now. More to come soon!

CRWB 2022

 Hello CRWB!

It’s almost time to get your costumes going and camping gear dusted off. Rodeo weekend is just around the corner. We were not sure until just recently what ticket sales or shirt costs were going to be. We just confirmed our back row. Before we get into everything, let’s start with the basics.

Theme: The Corkill Ranch Wild Bunch does DISNEY!
Date: April 30th & May 1st, 2022
Shirts: Light Pink
Yes, this is the theme we voted on way back in 2019. It took awhile but with patience and determination it’s on for 2022! There is an issue with the original color of hot pink so we compromised with the light pink.
As always it takes many volunteers to keep this going year after year. The next generation has really been stepping up for awhile now. And this year we have a new one. Willie has volunteered to handle your shirt orders! Our first memory of Willie goes back to Ralph and then Arlene days. He was one of the group of kids they would annually bring up. Willie came strolling across the campground wearing his first, newly purchased cowboy hat. If memory serves correctly, he was around 10 years old. We have since seen him through the military, and now married to a wonderful girl with 2 great kids. Another generational handoff. Thanks Willie and Rosalyn! And thank you to all our families for making this come together once again. Ordering will remain the same on line. Updates to follow…stay tuned.
We do know the cost for Rodeo tickets. We hope to see a good turnout from the CRWB this year. Tickets available soon on our webpage.
Pre-ticketing Gate
Adult $10. $15
7-12. $5. $7
Under 7 free
We spoke to the county today regarding camping reservations. The system remains down. They assured us the campground is set to open. Their reservation system went down and will be available soon. Squaw Creek will no longer be taking reservations. All reservations will be made on line. For those of you needing a general reservation, you can make that reservation the same day you leave. Our core group has secured the boundary so you are not on any time line to complete. If looking for designated spots, we suggest you do this earlier. The pricing has not changed. $20 per night designated, $15 per night open. Two cars per site allowed but the second car will be required to pay $15 per night.
The exciting news….there is water back at our campsite!! The lake is over 50% full and the water is still flowing in. Yeah!
Please remember to bring back your horseshoes signed!
Can’t wait to welcome you all. Pinch the cheeks of our newest babies, celebrate a special 18th birthday, hugging old friends, dancing down the parade route, playing some shoes, eating the infamous Indian Taco at the rodeo, cheering on our kids games and yes we have a Mutton Buster! All this and so much more…so don’t miss out!
See you soon!!
YeeHaw!

CRWB 2020 Shirt Tales

Greetings CRWB!

Welcome to your new month, new year and new decade. It doesn’t seem like it was a decade ago that we last visited with each other. Time really can fly…

So here we are, already gearing up to CRWB 2020 Stonyford Rodeo weekend. I have already heard from so many of you with your plans, your purchases and that you’re planning to hitch up for this years gathering. Last year, there were many outside events that happened over our CRWB weekend. We dubbed 2019 as CRWB LIGHT. Graduations, illnesses, trips, babies, moving and more. We had a great group and experienced a wonderful CRWB weekend together.
Well things are sure shaping up differently for this year. Most that needed to miss last year are headed back for this year! Looking forward to seeing the new additions, new rigs, new Rookies and all our old friends and families. We are a crazy mix, setting differences aside, literally babies to 80’s, coming together for a weekend filled with camaraderie and fun.

I am so excited for the 2020 theme. I think some of you may be too. Even Steve Watson, our shirt guru artist, is already working his creative juices. We made a change in shirt color so it could be used as one of the design colors allowing for more colors to be used. I can’t wait for you to see what Steve does for us this year!

So here is what is in store for us in 2020…

Theme:              Corkill Ranch Wild Bunch Does Disney!
Shirt Color:         Bright Yellow
Date:                  May 2nd & 3rd

While garage sale treasure hunting  I came across a Dory costume. I could not resist being “Dory” for the parade. I think she is perfect because I forget almost as much as she does on a daily basis. I feel a kinship…
So what will you be?? Who is your alter ego or fantasy self. Really excited to see what or who marches in the parade this year!

Our 2019 Winners

Horseshoes:
Well we had a “first” in our horseshoe tournament this year. We got started a little late and some folks needed to hit the road. Well, that left one of our playoff teams without their partner. Rules dictate that a new partner could not step in. But, rather then forfeit due to the circumstances, we allowed the player to play alone, but throwing for both sides. Tired, but a trooper, we have our first, single Bronze Winner!Congratulations Christine Hansen! Plus look at JJ’s son Caleb playing for the first time in the adult play…and yep, that’s me and Matt. No surprise who else is in first...Congratulations to all! *

🥇Gold:         Brad and Caleb
🥈Silver:        Matt and Sue
🥉Bronze:      Christine x 2

*please remember to sign and return your shoe for this years games

50/50 Draw
We may have had a slightly smaller group but you would not have known by the amount of money in our 50/50…

Grand Prize:                 Darlene ($360)
$50:                              Barb
2020 CRWB Shirt:       Greaty

Costume
We had such great costumes. Many took the time to create so many great looks. It was really hard choosing. All were great!
1. Best Family Themed Costumes: Brandee, she made all her families costumes from scratch
2. Most Interpretive of Theme: Christine & Clan
3. Best costume with least to work with: Kristi, only scissors, ketchup and dirt- warrior woman
4. Bravest: Matt, all spandex, hot temp, nothing left to imagination, home shield
5. Best Dog Costume: Nola

Fishing Derby
Adult:  Blake, 14.2 inches
Kid:  no entry

Most Determined
This one was easy.  No one has fought the good fight harder, longer and with so much determination to succeed. Zachary Parham

Fool Stick - Megan, one to many trips down the slip and slide.

Rookie - Kyle, made himself visible, wearing parade costume, helping wherever needed, friendly with all, bravely entered” Tequila Sheila” area, head down with tequila in hand.

Bone Award  - it’s never easy to recognize loved ones for the Bone. This year went to my treasure , Michael. Honestly thought he was way past these days. It’s not because we lost our transmission on the Stonyford Lodoga grade while towing our fifth wheel and blocking the route for several hours. But, it was because when Jimmy, bless his angel heart, took Mike to Helga’s to pick our trailer and take it into camp. Mike attempted to back into rig with tail gate still down and jacks still on the ground. Dare I say a few beers may have happened prior to this event.

Once again we want to thank those who have taken on permanent and/or weekend responsibilities ensuring smooth sailing:
50/50, Designated Driver – Zach and help
Kids Games – Brandee
Adult Games / Horseshoes – Lance, but 2019 Blake and crew!
Game(s) Certificates - Christy
Parade Banner, Glow Frisbee, all around cheer leader – Christine
Horseshoes and Pit Construction – Blake and crew
AM Daily National Anthem – Mark
CRWB Facebook and Camping Host- Christa
Parade Truck, Ice Buckets for drinks, Music Set-Up – Jack
Parade Music Mash Up, Campfire Music & Video – JJ and Nevaeh
Shirt Design - Steve
DI, Co-ord, Music consultant, 50/50, Mon Meeting, Right Arm – Barb

A shout out to my Mike who collects and brings beer, water, sodas and parade candy plus picks up and helps fill each of your shirt orders along with any other items we collect and bring along the way.

Thank you for the group who willingly makes our designated camp reservations so our area is always secured

I must mention Helga, who rescued us off the grade after our transmission went out and we got stuck. She also put us up for several days, offered her car to us, made contacts on our behalf and fed us.

Lastly, thank you Jimmy for arriving early to collect our RV from Helga’s and towing us into camp. Without you we never would have made it there

If we neglected to mention and thank you, please know you are all appreciated and so glad you are here.

Don’t forget to make your camping reservations. If you are “General “ camping you can reserve right up to the day you leave. “Designated” camping should be made ahead of time.

Shirt and Rodeo Ticket sales - You are able to pay on line thru the CWRB web page, by check or I my Venmo account.

**Please remember all shirt orders must be in by April 1st**

OK folks, that’s it for now! See ya’ll in approximately 100 days!
Happy Leap Year!

CRWB 2019 Shirt Tales

CORKILL RANCH WILD BUNCH

SHIRT TALES  2019

Howdy CRWB!

Whoa! Where did 2018 go? I have looked everywhere and can’t believe we are already past it. So, hello 2019! And what an eventful year it is already becoming. The weather has gone crazy. We live at 400 elevation and had snow! Now chains are required in Jackson, 1200 elevation just up the road from us.  What a winter!

There is also lots of news in our group. First, Vickie’s daughter and Linda and Jim’s granddaughter Paige is graduating from Azusa Pacific University in Southern California on May 4th. Yes, the date is correct, and their families will be attending. We will miss you all but a big Congrats to Paige 👩🎓

We just heard that Rick and Denise Carreon’s son in law, Roberto, successfully joined the AirForce. We thank him for his continued service.

Babies! We have Babies coming! Our little Colette and fiancé Tony are about to become brand new parents! Their little nugget is due the end of April. A little to young for 2019 but they will be ready for next year!

We also have another baby coming in August. Louise’s daughter and our oldest granddaughter Reyna and her fiancé Nathan have a little peanut growing too!

So excited to meet our newest CRWB Mutton Busters in 2020!

Sandy and Jason are in the finishing touches stage of their ranch. They have a mid May permit deadline to complete their project. We know how much hard work you are putting in and wish you well. It will be like a reunion when we see you and your family next year!

Just also heard that DeeDee is moving back to California. She just purchased a home in Roseville and will be moving soon. I know Joyce has had a hand in helping to get her settled. Maybe we could see DeeDee, Joyce and Marv back up for the weekend. We miss you all

We were saddened to hear of Bill Corkill’s cancer. He has been blessed with positive results so we know we will be seeing him back in the CRWB fold and wish him continued success.

Jim Corkill, our resident author, has a possible movie deal for several of his books as a series. We have always enjoyed reading your stories and this is such an exciting step. Look forward to your opening and we can all say, “we knew you when”. We are your biggest fans!

We are also celebrating because Zachary’s health is good enough for a return visit! So excited to see him and family!

This and much more is in store for us. So, come hang out, catch up with friends and have some fun. Here is what you need to know for 2019…

Date:               May 4th & 5th
Theme:           Corkill Ranch Wild Bunch (Roman) “Gladiators”
Shirt Color:    Light Tan

Warrior or townsman you should be preparing! Go polish up your metal-ware or shake out your togas and robes.  Let’s get ready to rumble! Or at least be ready to arm wrestle for a beer!

Reminders

Reservations: We want to thank those that volunteered to make designated reservations for the group. The cost is slightly higher, and the funds are non-refundable, so we really appreciate your willingness to help secure our area. Our camp site area has been secured by; Jim and Christine, Blake and Sarah, Mark and Amanda, Jay and Harriet, Dayna and Zach plus our site.

There are still designated areas available near the restroom below and across the road. For the rest of you please don't forget to make your general reservations. The cost is $15 per vehicle per night (general) $20 (designated).  You can pay on line or Squaw Creek. I am understanding they will be visiting the campground as well.

Reservations: www.visitcolusacounty.com  (For designated, use Lodoga side)

Smokers: On our last day in the campground we walk the entire area picking up any missed trash including butts on the ground. We would like to suggest you bring a coffee can for outside. This helps keep the area clear for you and is helpful for those of us cleaning up.

Shirt & Rodeo Tickets:  We have pricing on rodeo tickets and shirts. Our web site is open for both shirt and ticket orders. If you prefer you may still order via email/phone/FB, then either mail a check or send electronically. The information for ordering will be at the end of the newsletter. Please remember if you do not get a response from me, I did not get your order. There are no tank tops available.

Fishing Derby:  Begins Friday and ends Sunday at sundown.

Mutton Busters will need to be signed up in March for Saturday rodeo. It is on a first come basis. Forms are on-line at Stonycreekhorsemen.org under Amateur Events. Ages 4-6

** There has been a change in the rodeo schedule. It now starts Friday night, thru to our regular Saturday then Sunday is Amateur events only. We need to find out if they will have Mutton Busters still on Saturday.  Also, the folks that usually attend the Sunday Rodeo will now be there Saturday, so seating is going to be a little more crowded. As soon as we confirm we will be sure to let you know.

The lake was once again full and camping weather was great, but the wind was a little unpredictable. Awesome turnout too!  We know we won’t be worrying about water levels this year either!

CRWB Shirt Tales 2018

CRWB SHIRT TALES
2018

Howdy Ya’ll!

Yup, it’s time to start gearing up for our 2018 CRWB Stonyford Rodeo family & friends weekend!
This has been a whirlwind year for our family and at times not sure which foot is going in front of the next. We are getting thru the loss of 3 parents and recently almost losing my sister to a near fatal infection. It feels good to wake up to a new day full of possibilities and appreciation of what and who we have in our lives.

After conferring with my partner Barb, she said the best way to tell you that I have not” lost” but “misplaced” the list of the 2017 CRWB winners is to just confess my misstep. This includes Bone, Rookie and Fool Stick. So here I am, confessing and asking that our winners please notify me or shout out to the group your successes! My humblest of apologies to you all. They say the mind is the first to go. I think I saw a few of my marbles rolling down the highway…

So, let’s get ready for a weekend filled with all the fellowship and fun we can pack into our weekend!

The Gathering:
Date:                     May 5th & 6th, 2018 (Sat-Sun)
Theme:                CRWB Celebrates Cinco de Mayo!       (South of the Border!)
Shirt Color:          White

How fun the parade day matches our theme! Look forward to seeing the vibrant colors coming down the parade route!

We have a new shirt vendor we are trying out that has given us good pricing. We now can, for a smaller fee, go over our 5-color maximum.  Shirt color choices remain somewhat limited due to the same color size range we need. We do look forward to seeing what colorful creations Steve will design for us!

2017 was an interesting weekend. Early in the week we had cool weather, then amazing warm to hot with lots of folks swimming and enjoying the lake. Then Sunday, the wind arrived during the very early am hours. It took down tents and anything not nailed down. I should have taken a picture of the trash site with all the broken tents, awnings and chairs piled up next to it. A larger than normal group decided to leave Sunday with their homes no longer intact and the wind still blowing. The Horseshoe Tournament and games were cancelled. We bid farewell to the group departing on Sunday morning and the rest of us prepared for the day. Who could guess that just 2 hours later, the wind stopped completely. The temp rose to 85 plus and we were back in business. Off came coats and on came shorts and swim suits.

We want you to know the Horseshoe Tournament was played and we did have our Awards

Ceremony Monday meeting. It was great seeing folks making it through the Horseshoe Tournament ranks that have never played or typically have not made it past the first round. We had more than a few first-time winners. We want each shoe recipient along with the Bone, Rookie and Fool Stick, 50/50, Shirt, Mutton, Fish, Costume, game and any other recognition folks to share how they won or why the received their honors. Let’s share your successes! Hoping we have Pictures??

Sharing some happy news! Will and Rosalyn tied the knot a few weeks ago in Las Vegas. We are so happy for them. Will was just a young boy, around 12, when he first came to Stonyford. We saw him wear his first cowboy hat, graduate, join the military, meet Rosalyn, become a dad and now marry. It still all feels like yesterday. Congratulations!

We also want to share that our marvelous Marv is recouping well at home and on the mend! Joyce on the other hand may require some R&R once Marv is back on his feet!

As always, many thanks to all that work so hard for the weekend. We never tire in thanking you for your devotion to the CRWB. Jay and Harriet have been handling the shirt orders for many years. It was a blessing to have them sort and bag all our T-Shirt orders. Some may be aware that Harriet’s health has not been at its best and we wish here a speedy recovery. We hope to still see you both in camp this year.

It looks like the camp costs will be the same as last year. General camping spots can be made up to the day you are arriving. Web site for camping to follow.

Our core group, Sandy & Jason (L50), Christine & Jimmy (L48), Blake & Sarah((L47), Amanda & Mark(L46), Jay and Harriet(L82), and Mike and I (L49), please let me know asap if you will once again be willing to pay for designated spots that mark our perimeter. We understand these are higher in cost and nonrefundable. We appreciate your willingness.  The designated along with general sites may be requested starting January 1st, 2018. Thank you.

We had some confusion and questions regarding the process for selecting the parade themes for each year. The process we have now is to ask for any ideas you may want to be considered for nomination. On Monday morning, during our awards and weekend wrap up, we bring each idea up that was presented. We sometimes have as many as ten plus any that had been voted on in previous years that did not make it. We start with a general vote from the 30-40 of us still in camp. We then select the top three. At that point, we take each idea separately and discuss ideas, music, what costumes could be envisioned, shirt color options and possible parade steps, getting a group perspective. Once all three have been gone through, we vote again. We eliminate one, and vote one last time on the top two. We encourage anyone wanting to be a part of this process to participate. If you know you may not be able to stay until Monday, give us your top ideas with your vision and it will be voted on and your vote counting in the numbers as well. If anyone felt left out or not a part of the decision, we are very sorry for making you feel this way. We want everyone to know you all have a voice in this process.

Monday, we have our group cookout of burritos with all the fixen’s and margaritas. I would like to suggest that we consider having a Chili Cook Off on Sunday. It does need to be a group decision so thought we could talk about it and decide if we have enough folks that would be willing to make chili. We would have a panel of judges who would blind taste and rate. Bring your thoughts on this and if we agree it could be set up for 2019.

We already know the shirt prices will remain the same. We will need to wait until after the first of the year to hear about our rodeo ticket prices and the cost for our Rodeo Buckle sponsorship.
